Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Dutch semi-trailer manufacturer Royal Nooteboom Trailers is now offering an axle-lift option on its hydraulically-suspended multi-axle lowloaders and 12.2m tri-axle flat bed trailers.

The axle lift, which raises the wheels about 120mm, is designed to reduce tyre scrub on unladen or partly loaded trailers and is powered by a double-acting hydraulic ram operated from the cab.

To comply with Continental regulations, a fail-safe device ensures that the axle is automatically lowered if another axle on the bogie becomes overloaded. The conversion adds around 10kg per axle to the trailer kerbweight.
