Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Volvo has upgraded its Active Security system, which is now designed to exceed Thatcham insurance industry requirements and can lead to reduced insurance premiums.

The level of security ranges from a 4/5-circuit stand-alone immobiliser to a full immobiliser plus alarm covering the entire vehicle, including load space protection and trailer disconnection.

Operators insuring through Volvo Contract Insurance can save up to £350 a year on premiums if their vehicle is fitted with the alarm plus immobiliser, which costs £700. The 4/5circuit immobiliser costs £225.

The system can be installed in new vehicles or retrofitted.

• See feature on truck and depot security, page 38.
