Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

APPLICATIONS for the renewal of A licences in the Western Area have been adjourned, pending a possible appeal on the Bouts-Tillotson case, now before the Metropolitan Licensing Authority.

Last Friday, Messrs. Kelly Brothers, of Bristol, applied to the Western Licensing Authority for the renewal of A licences for 10 vehicles (55 tons 15 cwt.). The G.W. and L.M.S. Railway companies objected.

Mr. T. D. Corpe, for the applicants, stated that he would call evidence to show the vehicles were normally fully occupied, that they were operating in substantially the same manner as during the basic year and that the class of goods carried was quite unchanged.

He refused, however, subject to the Licensing Authority's ruling or That of the Appeal Tribunal, to supply objectors with the names of customers and with rates charged. Mr. Corps declared that, when, in the past, this information had been divulged, the railways canvassed hauliers' customers and undercut rates. Counsel for the railways denied this allegation.,

The Licensing Authority, in renewing the licence, agreed with Mr. Corpe that the Act did not require that, after two years, a licence must be taken away.

The other applications set down for hearing were adjourned.
