Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

WILTSHIRE COUNCIL has produced a free online mapping system for hauliers, which it claims would prevent drivers travelling on unsuitable roads. The Wiltshire Freight Gateway allows firms to plan their routes before making deliveries, providing details on weight and height restrictions.

The council said the custommade maps for CVs creates the best routes, enabling multidrop route planning, and can zoom in from UK-wide to detailed Wiltshire street level. It also gives drivers detailed local information.

“This is an effective tool that will help commercial drivers get to their destinations in Wiltshire with the least possible hassle,” said Dick Tonge, cabinet member for highways. “If they use the Freight Gateway before their journey, they will not get taken down roads with weight and height restrictions that are unsuitable for lorries.” The launch comes as the council awaits a decision on its appeal against a ban on LGVs travelling through Bath, due to the impact this could have on Wiltshire’s roads (CM 18 October). A Department for Transport spokeswoman said it had not yet made a decision.
