POLICE IN SCOTLAND are investigating the death of a tyre fitter who was killed when a truck collided with a stationary vehicle on a dual carriageway.

It is understood that a Christian Salvesen truck transporting goods for Morrisons collided with a stationary truck, operated by William Duff & Sons of Portmahomack.and a FordTransit pickup on the A9. Local reports indicate the fitter was replacing a wheel on the William Duff vehicle at the time of the collision.

A spokeswoman for Morrisons says: "We were deeply saddened Lo hear about last week's road accident." Christian Salvesen and William Duff & Sons declined to comment as CM went to press.

The incident occurred at 7.15am on 18 October, near Daviot Brae. The A9 was closed for eight hours.

Van driver Gavin Sutherland, from Invergordon, sustained fatal injuries; the two LGV drivers were taken to Raigmore hospital. One was treated for minor injuries and released while the other is still recovering.
