Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

George Lawson. the man who oversaw Rugby Cement's controversial move back to own-account operations, has resigned.

In a statement explaining the unexpected departure of ii s logistics general manager, Rugby said that Lawson has cnosen to pursue new career opportunities.

Managing director Stephen Eastwood praised Lawson's work: "Rugby has made good progress in restructuring the shape and scope of its logistics operations and improving customer service and professionalism."

However, the decision of the company last Christmas to t..Irminate the haulage contracts of its owner-drivers and t.) appoint TNT as lead logistics provider has provoked persstent criticism.

Earlier this year one haulier claimed that about 100 owner-drivers had each been left at least £3,000 out of pocket due to a clause in the terminated contracts. These stated that the owner-drivers had to pay for trailers leased to them by Rugby Cement to be re-sprayed before r aissue (CM 28 June-4 July).

Rugby says it intends to recruit a suitable replacement firr Lawson in "due course".
