Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Hauliers take note

The New Deal can offer hauliers financial help to train HGV drivers. The scheme is restricted to those who have been unemployed for six months. The haulier pays the trainee, but receives a subsidy—and the amounts are not trivial.

Trainee aged 18-24: Haulier receives 260 per week plus S750 towards training.

Trainee aged over 25: Haulier receives 275 per week plus .2750 towards training.

Trainee aged over 50: Here, 260 a week goes straight to the trainee and the haulier receives 2750 towards training.

With the New Deal it is the haulier who must get the wheels in motion. New Deal trainees cannot simply undertake courses at will; instead the training must be done under the auspices of a firm which takes the trainee on as an employee.

Hauliers interested in recruiting through this scheme must contact their local Job Centre to get the ball rolling.

It's important that hauliers set aside any predudice against the unemployed—with the industry so hard pressed any opportunity to take on new recruits must be worth a serious look.
