• The Road Haulage Association's new quality assurance manager wants to set up an accreditation company within the RHA which would be able to award hauliers BS5750.
John Jubber will have to put his plans to the RHA board, but he hopes to have a body established within two years.
It would rival existing accreditation groups covering the transport industry, such as the British Standards Institution, and would be able to award BS5750 to non-RHA members.
However, it would first have to win authorisation itself from the watchdog association, the National Accreditation Council for Certificate Bodies.
The latest major operator to win BS5750 is container haulier Huktra (UK).
