ENGINE ROOM • A two-day conference on internal combustion engine research takes place at the Institute of Mechanical Engineer's London headquarters on 30/31 January 1991. Session topics include compressors and unconventional fuels.

COMMUNITY TRAINING • The Community Transport Association will stage its South of England Community Transport Training Day on 24 November. An information stall and an exhibition of minibuses and equipment are planned for the event, at the University of Surrey in Guildford. The organisers say it will be useful to anyone involved in community transport, including those thinking of starting a community transport scheme or already involved in a scheme but anxious to learn more.

N ORGREN NEWS • Pneumatic control and automated handling equipment manufacturer Norgren Martoflair will will be showing a new range of compact cylinders and valves, plus a pneumatics software package, at the Scottish Engineering Show in Glasgow, from 27-30 November.

Also on display on the company's stand will be an updated version of the Doormaster electro-pneumatic door, used on PSVs.

BREWERY BASH • The Brewery Transport Advisory Committee is holding its BTAC Consult 91 event on 9 April at the Crest Hotel, Coventry, with the title Through the Looking Glass. BTAC says papers of interest both to engineering and distribution management dele gates will be presented, and fees will remain at 1990 levels.

A provisional date of 7-8 September 1991 has been set for the BTAC/IRTE technical fuel trials, to be held as usual at MIRA near Nuneaton.

MOVING EXPERIENCE • This Sunday, 28 October, sees the British Commercial Vehicle Museum's gathering of furniture transport vehicles, of any age, size or make.

The event, which will be the last outdoor date at the museum this year, is open between 10:30 and 17:00hrs, and no entrance forms or fees are required; the vans just turn up and park on the display area. Any company may enter any number of vehicles.

The Museum, in Leyland, Lancashire, is keen to attract everyday, working vehicles, not just vintage trucks.
