Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A LICENCE agreement has been concluded between Clayton Dewandre Co Ltd', of Lincoln. and Langen and Co. of Dusseldorf. for the manufacture by Clayton of full-power hydraulic or air over hydraulic braking systems. Clayton will manufacture the complete system with the exception of the power-steering section which will be manufactured by Adwest of Reading.

The Langen system is based on a central enginedriven pump and controlvalve supplying a hydraulic system with pressure up to 18,961kN/ scim (2750 psi). The system is equipped with accumulators for energy storage and oil under pressure is fed to such services as brakes steering and, if necessary, suspension, together with hydraulic auxiliary devices.

Since a common circuit for power steering, brakes and suspension is used. a closed centre power-steering system has been developed; most open-centre powersteering systems operate on pressures up. to 6895kN/ sqm. It is possible, says Clayton, to replace vacuum boosted brake systems on light vans with no difficulty.
