Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE Geddes Committee inquieng 1 into goods vehicle licensing, members of which were announced last week, was expected to hold its first meeting today. The meeting will be held at the headquarters of the British Travel and Holidays Assneiat:on in St. James's Street, London, and this West End venue has been chosen to suit the convenience of some of the members.

The committee has already issued a general invitation to any person or organization to submit views on the subject. In a statement, it says that in view of the Minister's remarks in the House in April, making it clear that the :inquiry was to re-examine the fundamental bases and working of the licensing system, the committee feels that it must be prepared to investigate the principles as well as the practical working of the present system.

Anyone wishing to give evidence is invited to let the committee have a written memorandum as soon as possible, and certainly before the end of the year; this should be sent to the secretary, Mr. J. M. Moore, at the Ministry of Transport, Southwark Street, London, S.E.I. After studying the wr.tten submissions, the committee will invite oral evidence at a later stage.
