sarphis at Edinburgh: The transport department of Edinburgh Corporation made a net surplus of £28,000 in the year ended May 31 lat, But there was a decrease of 4,500,000 in the number of passengers carried—almost entirely. it is estimated, the result of very had weather during the year. The department's tax liability in the year amounted to £374,161 for fuel tax and £27.505 for Excise duty licences. a total of £401,666.

South Shields Results: A net surplus of £10.515 was made by the South Shields County Borough transport department in the year ended March 31 last, compared with £5.407 in the previous corresponding period. The number of passengers carried33.606,346—showed a decline of 1,855,160, or 5-21 per cent. The number of route-miles covered by the department's motorbuses and irolleybuses was 3,564,809, almost 40,000 less than previously.

Grimsby and Cleethorpes Face Deficit: At a meeting last week of the joint transport committee of the Grimsby and Cleethorpes transport undertaking, it was stated that although itsmall surplus was recorded for the six months ended on September 30, it was expected that the full year would show a deficit. The committee decided not to buy some second-hand single deckers from London Transport. Mr. Rostron advised them that he had inspected the vehicles and did not consider the price of £2,750 each warranted the committee buying them.

Bradford Wins Grant: Bradford Corporation has been granted permission to replace trolleyhuses with motorbuses on the services between Bradford and Crossilatts,Binglcy and Saltaire. The grant means a reintroduction of the through service from Crosstlatts to Bradford Moor, which was split last November following the Forster Square redevelopment, and when the route comes into operation, 22 new double deckers will 1-ye introduced.

New Glasgow Depot : David MacBrayne Ltd., bus proprietors, have been granted pn.rnssion from Glasgow Corporation planning committee to erect a coach and goods depot at 82-92 Lancefield Street.
