Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A DEFINITE advance in the design CIL of light goods vehicles is represented by the new 8-10-cwt. van recently marketed by Morris Motors, Ltd., Cawley, Oxford. The outstanding feature of the machine is the large body capacity provided, this being no less than 119 cubic feet. This has been obtained by mounting the power unit approximately 4 ins, out of centre towards the near side of the chassis and, by this means, it has been possible to accommodate the driving position farther forward than is normally the case, the foot controls being, roughly, in line with the mid-point of the cylinder-block.

Rated at 11.9 h.p., the four-cyLindered side-valve engine has a bore and stroke of 69.5 rum. and 102 mm. respectively. Ignition is by the Lucas coil system, the advance and retard mechanism being automatic, and an carburetter is used, which is fed from the off-side-Inounted 7-galloncapacity cylindrical petrol tank by an S.U. pump. The frame is dropped at the front to accommodate the power unit and the controls, the side members being swept up amidships to give a higher level at the rear. Long, semielliptic springs are used at the rear, in conjunction with Armstrong shock absorbers.

In a recent road test report of this model, we commented on the excellence of the suspension, both from the point of view of:freedom from bounce and

the stability on corners. The clutch is of the single-plate type and a threespeed gearbox, with synchromesh mechanism for the top and second ratios, is provided.

With a wheelbase of 7 ft. Wins., the platform length is 8 ft. 2 ins., and, as no seat is provided for a passenger, the maximum internal length on the near side is 9 ft. 1 in. The chassis is priced at £125 andy with well-built vari body, the price is £172 10s., or, finished in shop grey, £169 10s. These figures include a good range of equipment.
