Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A Scottish pallet manufacturer and distribution specialist has snapped up 15 trucks through MAN Diesel's Reassurance package to man its operation south of the border.

The decision by distribution specialist Scott Timber Group to purchase 15 used vehicles was seen as best practice, allowing it to obtain good quality motors at maximum cost effectiveness.

"Over the last year we have created a network across England and Wales that enables us to offer customers fast, efficient delivery regardless of their location. Our goal now is to keep investing in that network to give even greater value to our customers and ensure they have the best service in the country," he says.

The six-figure deal is the largest number of vehicles bought through MAN ERF UK's dedicated used division MAN Diesel using its new Reassurance programme. The vehicles,10 with the XL cab and five with the LX cab, will also have a three year contract hire arrangement with full repair and maintenance programme.

"The deal Ores us more control over our product and as a consequence allows us to get closer to our customers and offer them greater flexibility," says Scott.

"All 15 tractor units and trailers will be branded with the Scott Timber logo which will give us a new visibility on UK roads."

Six sites

The new haulage fleet will run from six sites across England atWigan,Widnes, Stoke-onTrent,Burton upon Trent, Isle of Sheppey and North Fleet, and at Barry and Flint in Wales.

The company has grown and acquired significantly over the past 12 months, making expansion inevitable. H&R Gray, the haulage firm since the earliest days of the company, will manage the haulage requirements in Scotland and the company's owner, Robin Gray, will watch over the new fleet.

The Reassurance programme was launched at the last CV Show and has proved popular, delivering three-year-old MAN TGAs and ERFECX ex-contract products with a service history directly controlled by MAN ERF UK.

Director of asset management and head of MAN Diesel Michael Leeming says:"Scott Timber is building an industry model which other companies, both at home and abroad, will aspire to and we are delighted to be assisting them in their work."

MAN Diesel has predicted that it will reach its target of 3,500 sales and, in a move shadowing its new vehicle sales strategy for 2004, is reducing buy-back deals to raise profitability. •
