POLICE ARE hunting thieves who stole £17,000 worth of shoes from a trailer as the driver slept in his cab.
The incident happened at 4am lastThursday (18 November) near Stibbington on the Al in Cambridgeshire. Eric Short from Newcastlebased Eric Short Transport says: -The driver rang the police and was told they would just give him a crime number.
"However, after some pressure they came out and searched the nearby field but found no shoes, only some bits of the curtain.
"This is the second time in the. past week we've had our curtains slashed," he adds.
Cambridgeshire police are appealing for witnesses.
