• A parcels depot had to be evacuated and the fire brigade was called after a package containing acid gave off dangerous fumes.
The 2.5-litre jar of 35% hydrochloric acid broke as it was being loaded on to a truck at ANC Parcels' site in Aldridge, West Midlands last week.
Fifteen workers were evacuated as fumes flied the premises and fire fighters had to use breathing apparatus to examine it. Soda ash was used to neutralise the spillage; the driver who dropped the package was given a precautionary check but needed no treatment.
