+ It isn't always possible to know if a damaged cast alloy item will melt below the rod's melting point But if it does melt, either at the same temperature or just before it, the Techno-Weld repair method is not suitable.
A suspect metal can be tested by placing a small sample of it and a similar sized piece of the rod on a flat metal surface and heating evenly from below to see whe each sample melts.
