Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Irish hauliers will be included in a new list warning which companies in the Republic are about to be struck off by the Companies Registration Office.

"Get-tough" action by the CRO means companies which fail to file returns for the previous financial year are being struck off the companies register automatically.

Under new regulations the CRO will also strike off any company which it believes is no longer trading, When a company is struck off the list its directors lose their limited liability status: company assets become the property of the state: and the company ceases to exist as a legal entity.

The GRO now publishes weekly warning lists on the Internet at www.croje. The CRO warns that any company which appears on this list will be given a month to file all outstanding annual returns—or face the consequences.

These include a notice from the CRO dissolving the company, after which it will he illegal to operate.
