his is a monogamous obsession — his affections for 30 years have been reserved exclusively for AEC Regent number 477. And now Davies has tied the knot by buying the bus he first met as a schoolboy 34 years ago.
After school, the affair blossomed when the moonstruck PSV lover took a job with Swansea-based South Wales Transport and drove the Regent in the early 1960s.
Enforced separation came when Davies took another job, but he never forgot his first love. Now the Tristan and Isolda of double-deckers are reunited and Davies has nurtured her back to pristine condition for showing at Historial Commercial Vehicles Preservation Society rallies.
