Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

I THOROUGHLY enjoyed the Truckfest show at Peterborough: such opportunities for owner-drivers and the general public to see our vehicles and the work and dedication that is clearly put in to some of the exhibits — in a non-aggressive environment — must surely help the tarnished image of our industry.

However, I have a major complaint and that is the noise made by children (I hope it was only children!) blowing air horns. I can understand this, but it doesn't help lorries seem more attractive.

Also I was very disappointed that semi-trailers were not allowed in with the tractors; a tractor without a trailer is not a complete working vehicle. I can't speak for others, hut I had intended to enter four vehicles, but entering just tractors would have been of no interest.

I realise that there arc problems of space and manoeuvrability at Peterborough and it would be interesting to hear what others have to say.

Finally, and while still on the subject of Truckfest, I was concerned to note that a date change is planned for next year and that the date may be the May • Bank Holiday. if that is the May Day weekend may I point out that this date is also the date of the Historical Commercial Vehicle Society London-toBrighton run and the Wheels of Yesterday event? This clash of dates may discourage the historic vehicle conttnt of Truckfest and leave many with a dilemma which to support. Can this date be reconsidered?

Another interesting report in CM was The Hawk's story about the Sedan twoton van (CM May 4). I enclose a photo of the factory's demonstrator claimed to be turning within a 23ft circle.

This vehicle was built by Sedan Auto Car Syndicate Ltd, Lichfield Street, Wolverhampton. The vehicle claimed a speed of 12mph, tare weight of two tons and four hundredweight (2,235kg) and gross weight of four tons and four hundredweight (4,267kg). Although this gives a two-ton capacity, I have a note that this includes the weight of three men. Fuel consumption was claimed to be a creditable 7mpg and the purchase price was £450.

Peter J. Seaword The H-S Transport Collection Leeds • With regard to your point about the Truckfest date, we are proposing to make it the Spring Bank Holiday weekend in 1986 and not on May Day — Editor.
