Actia Mutter Actia Muller's Multi-Diag Trucks uses a touch-screen tablet PC and Bluetooth wireless system to

Knorr-Bremse Knorr-Bremse has three versions of its Neo diagnostics software available. The Green version is its start-up kit, which aims to provide workshops with the necessary basic tools for all fault-finding functions, including EBS diagnosis and the ability to reset the electronically controlled components. such as the air drier and electronic clutch actuators.

The Neo first reads the fault codes, then offers tips on how to fix them, including wiring diagrams.

Active faults are differentiated from "stored faults". so a technician can fix a current problem first.

Active faults are shown with a large 'A next to the reported fault and are highlighted in red. A technician can clear the fault or perform a manual test. You get a picture of the vehicle's history since the faults were last cleared.

Texa For years, Italian firm Texa had the heavy truck, multi-make, multi-system diagnostic market to itself.

It has more competition now, but its experience does mean it can understand what workshops need.

Its "fix" search facility found on the Axone 3 diagnostic tool, for example, is a database of fault fixes collated by Texa from its technical helpdesks and can be viewed via a Google search.

The search system will automatically offer a series of solutions, already processed by Texa and validated by a workshop, so the technician can choose a solution that is relevant to their problem.

Its latest IDC3 software combines the diagnostics tools and the technical information into a single program. It includes technical bulletins describing how to solve problems, and, where applicable, repair and testing procedures.

The Navigator TXT is the latest truck interface and comes with a 64mb memory so it can store programs and retrieve data from its internal memory. This reduces the communication time with the ECU.

The Navigator plugs into the vehicle and connects via Bluetooth to five possible Axone display units: the Axone 3 Mobile, Axone Direct, Palmtop, Pad and the trolley-mounted Multipegaso.

Wabco Wabco's Expert multi-make diagnostics tools come in three packages: Compact, Advanced and Premium. The Compact compromises a Wabco Smart handheld loaded with general fault diagnostic software; the Advanced kit uses a Panasonic Toughbook rugged laptop computer with a Smart Module vehicle interface and also has Wabco-specific fault diagnostic codes. The Premium version houses everything on a mobile trolley.

Software updates for the packages are released quarterly.
