Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

grand 80% of stock A host of vehicles from ex-rental and leasing deals

went through the Manheim showroom last week with 78% of them finding new homes.

Manheim Auctions in Leeds last week saw most of the stock on offer sourced direct from its regular suppliers.About 90% of the vehicles came from finance houses, lease companies and operators, producing plenty of three to six-year-old vehicles in good condition.

Of the 206 vehicles, Manheim Auctions said 78% went under the hammer.

A major part of the sale included 7.5-tonne trucks back from TLS Rental registered 2000 and 2001 While Iveco is normally the chassis cab coming through, there were a couple of Renault Midlums too, with competition keen.

National HGV and plant manager Jeremy Martell says vehicles coming back from the TLS Rental will be a wider mix of manufacturers, and if the Midlums that went under the hammer are anything to go by, demand will be fierce.

Good prices

A 2002-registered 51-plate Midlum 150DC1 with a 20ft curtainsider body and tail-lift fetched £11,600 (ex-VAT).A Midlum 150DCi tipper .also a 51-plate but registered 2001, sold for £10,900 (ex-VAT).

A typical Iveco 7.5-tonne boxvan from TLS went for £8,500 (ex-VAT) although prices for similar vehicles with added extras such as tail-lifts and air management kits only went provisionally even though they raised more cash.

At the opposite end of the scale, decent tractors were thinner on the ground with some 2001-registered vehicles on Y-plates representing the mosf recent stock.

fhad several fleet based CF85 products on two and three axles • Only one of the Premiums sold for enough A Some smart looking Scanias went under the hammer going through and two smart looking Scania tractors went under the hammen'The first was an X-pl ate 6x2 R124L 420hp sleeper with a tag axle, which went for £21,500 (ex-VAT),while the second, a T-plate P124 6x2, with twin steer fetched £16.250 (ex-VAT).

There were several Renault Premium tractors up for grabs, including a 6x2 400 and 385,but only a 2001 Y-plate 420DCI with air management kit and sliding fifth wheel gained sufficient cash, selling for £14,800 (ex-VAT).

News in the Budget that the government wants more houses built to meet demand and quell house prices will mean premiums going up further for tippers and multi-axle rigids, as construction companies scramble to meet the demands of the marketplace. It can only add to residuals on good quality tippers, and specialised grab/tippers will certainly improve.

Rare tippers

Tippers on two axles at 7.5-tonnes continue to do good business, although they do seem a bit rare across the board at the moment. Multi-axle trucks were thin on the ground at Leeds with a seven year-old R-plate Iveco EL trakker 8x4 tipper being f one up for grabs.

There were plenty of ex nicipal vehicles going thrc especially Johnson sweep varying ages, the late year that went through the auc early saw bidding and pro deals, but interest had war the auction's close.

There was a good choiec ers going under the hamrn six three-year-old 40ft Car triaxle double-deck from '\ gen sold, and two three-ye EuroEjector triaxle trailer as two refurbished ones. I CONTACT: www.manheimeurope to' information on future auc
