Park-based Juggs Food. The firm manufactures its own frozen re• meals and carries out its own distribution to pubs and restaurants across the UK. The firm operates an HACCP (Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Points) system. ensuring the quality of its products and the drivers play a key role in ensuring its success.
Roger Ibbott, founding director. says: -Drivers are trained on tt different vehicles that we run: temperature reading: maintenance; and health and safety. They all wear a uniform and are given trainir in dealing with customers. Our drivers are required to have a gooc knowledge of our business and carry a menu with them so they GE provide customers with information about our products. We also have a system in place. which monitors the movement of the gooc and the temperature that they are kept at, alerting us if a freezer gc down at the depot. Our goods are packaged in the best possible way to help retain the temperature when the doors are open.
-Everyone could drive a forklift truck, but without training it becomes a dangerous vehicle. Similarly, all drivers with an HGV licence can drive a refrigerated truck. but they may not be aware c the products they are carrying and the importance of the temperal they are kept at; therefore a separate certificate is a good idea."
