ni For the second time in a month nearly half the HGVs stopped at a West Marcia police roadside check have been found to be leaking diesel.
Dave Randle, of the force's CV unit, says four failed out of nine trucks pulled in at the check on 16 March.
One HGV received an immediate prohibition; the rest received defect notices. "The immediate was issued because the HGV had a loose fuel tank," says Randle. "We also issued a defect notice to a panel van which had a temporary plastic cap on its fuel tank."
Earlier this month in a larger check, almost half of the 35 vehicles stepped were found to be spilling diesel.
