Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

I am sure like many of your readers I find the tachograph cases reported on the legal pages of great interest. If nothing else, they certainly help people like me to bring home to drivers that tachograph laws are for real and failure to comply can hit where it really hurts—in the pocket.

Regrettably, however, I find that sloppy reporting can give rise to even more confusion in this complicated area, particularly for non-experts who take an interest in these matters.

I refer, in particular, to your reports of convictions for "driving for 4.5 hours without the required break" (CM4-10 March). There is no such offence. The problem arises when one drives for more than 4.5 hours!

So can we have a bit more attention to detail on such crucial and fundamental points, please? Then I can continue to back up my instructions to drivers with real-life cases straight out of CM.
