Drivers say no • Tesco depot drivers have rejected a 2.6% pay offer, said to be worth £6.16 a week to artic drivers. The continuing negotiations cover composite depots handling ambient, chilled and dry goods.
Full production • Courier, Escort 40 and Transit production at Ford has so far been unaffected by a foremen's strike. Unions say Ford, facing further action by white-collar staff, has dropped its demand for more than 300 compulsory blue-collar redundancies.
On the piste • Parcelforce has won a £130,000 distribution contract from Northamptonbased ski wear company Campari. Parceline previously held the contract for the work.
Semis work • Federal Express is to distribute semi-conductors from its BLS Partsbank in Leicester for Siliconix, which has closed its Newry, Northern Ireland operation with the loss of six staff, two of whom transferred to Federal Express.
On the rails • More of Greater Manchester's waste is to be transported by rail under a contract won by BR's Trainload Freight. An extra 10,000 lorry loads a year will be diverted via rail to a new transfer station at Warrington.
