BRITAIN'S newest and one of the most fully equipped lorry-drivers' motels opened in Carlisle last week.

Called the Carlisle Truck Inn, the motel is owned by Geoff Bell, with the servicing side handled by BP Oil Ltd.

The three-story building has accomodation for 60 drivers in centrally-heated, fully-carpeted two or three-bed suites.

A fully secure parking area for 300 lorries is adjacent to the motel.

Among the amenities provided are a games room, a television room, a self-service cafe, and a bar.

The cost for a bed in the motel is £3 a night. Parking facilities cost £140 a night.

The motel is three miles north of Carlisle, ½ mile off the M6 at junction 44. Signs for the Inn are visible from the motorway.
