ADESIGN memoranda pilot scheme has been launched by The Institution of Mechanical Engineers. The scheme, intended to provide authoritative and up-to-date aids to design that are not readily available in any other form, is initially receiving financial support from the Ministry of Technology.
By arrangement with the Royal Aeronautical Society, the technical department of the Society will provide the technical and ancillary services required for the scheme. A charge is made for the data sheets according to the contents and the sheets are available to all branches of industry, in some cases at a discount.
The composition of the committees preparing the memoranda is decided by the management committee in every case and comprises members of the appropriate industries best qualified to prepare the data.
