Ma. W. ASTIN, general manager of Chester Transport Department, has been appointed general manager of Exeter Transport Department. • Mr. Astin, formerly general manager at Colchester, succeeded the late MR. E. G. THOMAS at Chester in 1951.

He became advertising manager of the company, and of A. V. Roe and Co., Ltd., in which concern Crossley held a controlling interest at that time, in 1922. He was appointed sales manager in 1936. He will be succeeded by MR. R. E. MATHER, who Will assume the title of contracts manager. Mr. Mather has worked with Mr. Wells for some time.

MR. PETER MASEFIEW, chief executive of British European Airways, is to succeed SIR GILMOUR JENKINS as president of the Institute of Transport. The vice-presidents will be MR. JAMES Amos, chairman of Scottish Omnibuses, Ltd.; SIR JOHN BENsmsD, deputy chairman of the British Transport Commission; MR. F. H. CAVE, general manager and secretary of the Mersey Docks and Harbour Board; MR, R. G. GROUT, vice-chairman of the General Steam Navigation co., Ltd.; MAJ.-GEN. G. N. RUSSELL, general manager and chairman of British Road Services, and Mn. J. W. WATKINS, general manager of the London Midland Region of British Railways. The honorary treasurer will be MR. S. B. TAYLOR, chief secretary of the B.T.C., and the honorary librarian MR. H. H. Caow, chairman and managing director of the Crow Carrying Co., Ltd.

MR. K, C. SPR1NGE1T, clerk in the public service vehicle traffic court of the Yorkshire Licensing Authority for the past six years, has been appointed an executive officer at Stornoway Airport.
