Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• I am writing to thank you for highlighting my campaign for seat belts in HGVs. But I am a little upset that you reported my brother was killed a year ago when in fact he only died in March this year. Also, I did not say he would have been alive today if he had been wearing a belt but he MAY have been. This we never shall know.

would like to thank you again and I am sorry you cannot help me further. Katy Thomas Woodbridge, Suffolk. We regret getting the date of Katy Thomas's brother's death wrong and apologise for any distress this may have caused.

While Commercial Motor believes that seat belts in trucks would save lives, we acknowledge that the research is inconclusive and that there is a strong lobby from within the industry against their compulsory fitting and wearing (see Sound Off page 38). Far from closing the debate on seat belts, we believe it is right to go on airing both sides of the argument and welcome contributions from readers — Ed.
