• A new bus firm has been given the go-ahead to start operating nine routes in Sheffield, three weeks after the North East Deputy Traffic Commissioner Brian Homer effectively banned the introduction of more bus service registrations in the
city (CM 11-17 June). But a director at Sheffield-based South Riding, which will start running 12 buses on city services on 27 July and another 8 in August, says Homer has not backed down on his position but has not implemented it yet.
