THE INSTITUTE of Road Transport Engineers has published a guide to the implications of operating vehicles above 32.5 tonnes gcw under the amended Construction and Use regulations.
The A4 sized, 54-page booklet contains a number of features previously published in Transport Engineer, the Institute's monthly journal, and the emphasis is on how to specify tractive units and trailers for optimum operational efficiency.
Subjects dealt with in depth by the Transport Press Services editorial team which compiled the booket "Artics above 32 tons" include the costs of taxing and operating, putting tractors and trailers in combination, and what the law says.
One interesting conclusion reached in the booklet is that, in general, operators will avoid a lot of anguish if they run three axle tractors with three axle trailers.
