• Magirus Deutz (Great Britain) Ltd is to erect a factory at Winsford, Cheshire, to cope with an expansion of demand and to enable a wider range of vehicles to be offered on the British market. It is expected that an increasing proportion of British content will be introduced into the vehicles.
The move from the present site at Middleton, Lancashire, will mean some redundancy for present staff, which the company is taking steps to meet. The new factory is due to be ready by early 1972.
Magirus reports that sales of dump trucks during the first five months of this year exceeded the total sales for 1970.
Magirus Deutz (Great Britain) Ltd represents Klockner-Humboldt Deutz AG. of Cologne and Ulm; the link with Seddon in this country was amicably severed in February this year.
