• A claim for increased wages from 4000 National Bus Company drivers and conductors is expected to be the result of the joint services agreement between the Tyneside Passenger Transport Executive and the NBC.
A spokesman for the Transport and General Workers' Union told CM this week that the bus crews affected would be seeking wage parity with PTE drivers and platform staff. This is because under the new agreement the NBC and the PTE operate joint services in the Tyneside area, although there is a differential in the basic wage rates of the respective crews.
