• Customers who travel on market day from the March and Whittlesey areas to Mr Frank Brierley's Peterborough discount store and spend more than £4 in the shop, are given half the cost of their bus fare.
Mr Brierley, a millionaire who has other stores in Northampton, Leicester and Wellingborough, has been in touch with the Eastern Counties Omnibus Co Ltd with a view to the company continuing certain country services said to be running at a loss. At present he is subsidizing the passengers only on the service operating on Wednesday.
