Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE new research and development centre of Teleilex Products Ltd. was opened by Mr. J. A. Smith, managing director of the company. at Wickford, Essex. last week. The main Teletex factories are four miles away at Basildon. and the new centre has been sited at Wickford so that design staff are freed from the day-to-day queries which tend to occur when production and research take place under one roof. Mr. Smith appealed to those present at the opening not to undersell British export achievement.

Responding. the chief guest at the ceremony, Dr. C. C. Hall, director of the Warren Spring Laboratory of the Ministry of Technology, praised the imaginative drive of the company in, establishing the new centre. " All research is a gamble", said Dr. Smith, " but if you never gamble. you 'never back a winner."

Of particular interest to transport engineers were te4 rigs used in developing inertia reel type safety harnesses. Manually and electrically operated window winding gear was also seen under test.

Teleflex has been active in the materials handling field since 1960 and many component parts used in conveyor systems were seen undergoing stringent " life" tests.
