• US engine maker Caterpillar is stepping up its assault on the European truck market with a new generation of seven, 10, 12 and 14-litre engines which it will introduce over the next 12 months.
At the same time Caterpillar will release the latest 455hp Euro-2 version of its 14-litre 3406 six pot—a 550hp 3406E will also arrive around April/May of next year. Both the C10 and 455hp 3406E will be offered by Foden from October,
During the second haif of 997 the C10 will be joined Iv the longer stroked C12—b h share the same block and bore. Described as a multi-torque engine, the C12 will be rated at 385 and 410hp.
In mid-'97 Cat will unveil its 7.7-litre 3126 engine rated between 175 and 300hp. This ultra-light all-electronic six-pot is also equipped with HELL
