• Risk prevention officers — which the European Commission is proposing for all firms carrying mainly hazardous goods — could be required to sit an extra exam as part of the Certificate of Professional Competence.
The Commission has released a draft directive which states that one person in each company will be responsible for safety. The Freight Transport Association says there is some confusion over the meaning of parts of the document. The directive is likely to be debated by the Council of Transport Ministers in December.
