Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

NAANY C-licence operators would use VI hired transport, leaving their capital for business needs, if only they could be sure of getting a reliable service from hauliers. This was stated by Mr. E. J. Chamberlain, chairman of 'the Yorkshire, Hull and East Riding Division of the Traders' Road Transport Association, at Scarborough last week.

Speaking at the Association's quarterly luncheon, he said the truth of the matter was that the most reliable transport service a trader could receive today was one he supplied himself. For that reason, people who chose to use C-licence vehicles should be allowed the unfettered use of their own transport, Mr. S. Bond, president, said it was interesting to speculate on why the British Transport Commission had singled out the trader -and industrialist for their attention.

"Is it because the B.T.C. are conducting a few tests to see if they can produce a certain climate of opinion in which it would be easier to restrict the C-licence vehicle? " he demanded. "Whatever the answer, all the propaganda being conducted against the C licence will not alter the fundamental fact that a firm use their own commercial vehicles because they cannot get the kind of transport service they require from any other source."

He added that the T.R.T.A.'s policy was one of "nonaggression."

NEW BUS STATION?

A GOODS yard at Bridge Street, PA Bradford, which is to be given up by British Railways, may become a bus station. Bradford Corporation have offered to buy the land, following the reorganization of railway goods facilities in the city.

No decision has yet been made by the British Transport Commission, as British Road Services have also put in an offer.
