Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE PLAGUE OF potholes that have diluted drivers since the start of the winter has caused a massive jump in the number of damaged windscreens.

Nigel Doggett, managing director of Autoglass says: "We've advised drivers to be vigilant and slow down if they spot potholes on the roads, but the upsurge in calls we've had suggests that fleets and insurance firms face a fairly hefty payout as a result of 2010's big freeze," Unfortunately, the larger stones dragged out of potholes are more likely to damage a screen beyond repair.
