The approaches are being made in areas of the country where Leyland Daf's representation and customer portfolio are acknowledged to be strong.
In the wake of Daf's financial troubles five Leyland Daf outlets have been targeted for franchise takeovers by IFT, in areas where 17-tonne-plus market penetration by "van and light truck minded" former Ford dealers is poor.
Some of the dealers were approached within days of the Leyland Daf receivers being appointed.
Franchise principals have had extensive lengthy talks with IFT at Watford—but a number have been invited to Swindon for discussions on MAN franchises, to fill out the marque's network.
Key people in the Leyland Daf network as well as franchises are being targeted.
