Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Changes to the Transit range just announced by Ford include the introduction of two additional models. Interior fittings have been improved in all versions, rear suspension design has been revised and external appearance has been modified.

The new Transits are a short wheelbase 25cwt model and a light-weight version of the 390 Parcel Van. The new 25cwt has the same mechanical specification as the existing model which has until now been available in long wheelbase form only—while reduced weight is obtained in the 390 Parcel Van by the use of light-alloy instead of steel bodywork.

There are a number of improvements internally on the full Transit range. The main one is the addition of car-type face-level ventilation with outlets at each side of the dash and a more effective "crash pad".

The standard passenger models in the Transit range have been improved internally also and the level of interior trim is equal to that of the latest "customvan range.

Changes to the rear suspension introduced for all models are designed to give an improved ride through the use of revised leaf springs. Loading heights are also reduced; the latest dimensions are between 23.6 and 26.2in. according to model.

External changes which identify the 1971 Transit range consist of a new white-painted front-grille design for petrol-engined versions, bright-metal moulding inserts on the windscreen, rear closure and headlamp inner bevels for "custom" and passenger models. A side-loading door with step is now standard on eight-and nine-seat buses and safety is improved with the use of anti-burst door locks as standard on all Transits with hinged cab and side-loading doors.

With the changes, Ford is now using a revised naming system which denotes the vehicle payload in a relationship to metric weights. As an example. the smallest van in the range was the 14cwt-payload model which has an approximate metric equivalent of 750kg. This becomes the Transit 75.
