H. Transport Ltd., of Well Hall Road. S.E.9, for an A licence for three vehicles was granted by the Metropolitan Licensing Authority in London last week.

Mr. Graham Rose. for the company. said the application originally concerned four vehicles hut the number had been reduced to three.

No objection was offered by British Railways or Miss Elizabeth Havers, appearing for Dartford Wharfage Ltd.

Mr. Albert Stewart, a director of S.S. and H. Transport. said they held a Contract A licence for three vehicles. They were contracted to Zack Cartwright Ltd. and carried mineral goods for them. Earlier this year his firm was asked by Zack Cartwright to supply a third vehicle because of an increase in business.

The increase, however, was insufficient to pay for the third vehicle. They had been approached by a number of merchants and asked to carry goods for them but they had to refuse these requests because of their contract.

In most instances their vehicles were running to certain areas only partly loaded while some merchants were having difficulty in deviiering small lots to customers. These other merchants dealt -in similar mineral commodities to those they carried for Zack Cartwright Ltd, " We are willing to give these merchants the benefit of our services."

Mr. Stewart explained that many carriers did not like dealing with commodities imported by firms like Zack Cartwright.

Mr. Lionel Miller. general manager of W. Harrison and Co.. supported the application and told the authority that S.S. and H. Transport were willing to carry small commodities of specialized goods whereas other carriers were often unwilling because of the " dirty " nature of the goods.

The application was granted subject to the surrender of the existing licence.
