WELL over 50 per cent, of the memW tiers of A.R.O. Brighton Sub-area attended the meeting, at Brighton, las1 week, at which S.T.R., The Commercial Motor costs expert, lectured on costs and charges. This is a significant tribute to the value and appreciation of S.T.R.'s addresses.
Among those present were. Mr. A. V. Nicholls, chairman of the sub-area, and Mr. Robinson, Brighton Corporation's transport manager. The address was followed by a lively discussion, turning on such matters as overloading, the potential life of goods vehicles in service to-day, the modifications in cost estimates which are desirable to meet conditions imposed by different
B38 branches of the industry (for example, sand and ballast and parcels carrying), proper provision for tyre costs, and, of course, obsolescence.
In proposing a vote of thanks to the speaker, the chairman, after referring to the fact that he was a regular reader of S.T.R. 'a articles in The Commercial Motor, said that he thought it might be a good idea if, on some occasion in the near future, S.T.R. were to come to Brighton again, not necessarily to give another lecture, but to answer questions which they in the sub-area would prepare beforehand.
S.T.R., in replying, said that he would be pleased to fall in with the chairman's suggestion.
