The third meeting of this committee was held at the Institution of Electrical Engineers, on the llth December. A letter was then read from the secretary ol" Sir Edward Henry, the Chief Commissioner of Police, regretting that Sir Edward was unable to accept the invitaticn of the committee to became it neember of it,. on .account of his position as Comniissioner of Police, and the policy which he bad always followed of not associating himself with any society having a bearing on his official relationship. kin expressed his keen interest in the great developments which are taking place in electrical propulsion, and his realization of the fact that we. are on the eve of important changes in this respect. Technical Sub-committee.—Messrs. It. A. Chattock ; F. Ayton ; J. E. .Edgcome ; It. E. Mossay ; E. S. Jacob ; Conway Jenkins ; J. Christie ; W. H. L. Watson ; and B.E.A.M.A. representatives of Dynamo and Motor Section and of Switchgear Section.

Commercial Sub-committee.—Messrs. It. A. Chattock; F. Ayton ; F. E. Gripper ; E. S. ShrapnellSmith ; A. H. Seabrook ; A. C. Cramb ; H. Faraday Proctor ; W. S. Naylor ; J. F. Monnot ; W. R. Rawtings ; and J. S. Highfield.

The following matters were referred to the Technical Sub-committee:— 1. Arrangements to recommend for charging batteries.

2. To decide upon the most suitable sizes of a line of charging outfits—(a) for D.C. systems, (Jo) for A.C. 'systems.

3. Instructions for charging batteries.

4. Rules for use in maintenance of electric vehiel est 5. Standard ratings for motors. 6. Standard battery voltages. 7. Standard ratings for commercial vehicles.

8. Wiring details.

9. Standard charging plug and receptacle. 10. Standard battery units.

11. Electric lighting on vehicles. The following matters were referred to the Commercial Sub-committee:— 1. The drafting of a circular letter to electrical supply undertakings regarding provision of charging facilities, tariffs, publicity, etc.

2. Insurance rates.

3. Parades and exhibitions.

4. To collate information and publish same.

5. Taxation matters.

6. Issue'of maps and lists giving information regarding charging stations. 7. Preparation and publication of publicity matter, and advertising.

As to the etancearcuation of the charging plug and receptacle, the _secretary reported that he was still waiting for the -drawings promised by the American Association. As it would be an advantage in the future if the standard plug and receptacle could be made an international one, the secretary was-Virected to get into touch with the German and French Institutions of Electrical Engineers, In order to ascertain whether such a proposal would have their support
