Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

TRANSIT van driver Ronald Powell of Whitburn, West Lothian, was dismissed when he refused to drive to Paisley and Greenock from Bathgate, and to Inverness.

He insisted that he must be paid an overnight allowance if required to handle these calls on the same day.

He then absented himself on December 29 and 30 and claimed illness on these two days.

Mr Powell was dismissed on January 3 when he returned to duty.

The Industrial Tribunal Scotland ruled that the driver's refusal to go to Inverness was a legitimate cause for dismissal but ruled that Euroscot Meats (Export) had not made completely clear the conditions of the journeys to the several destinations.

It awarded the applicant £84.25.
