• More than 3,000 Exel Logistics drivers and warehouse staff have voted to take strike action after rejecting a 3.5% pay offer.
Ballot results released last week show Transport and General Worker Union drivers and warehouse staff are prepared to .strike in pursuit of a better pay rise.
United Road Transport Union members, who account for a small proportion of the work force, voted against taking action.
The dispute involves around 3,300 Exel staff covered by the so-called Red Book agreement which concerns staff transferred from BRS in 1993 when the company merged with its NFC sister company Exel Logistics.
Fewer than 50% of Exel Logistics staff are union members, according to NFC.
Engineering workers covered by the agreement, including a number of T&G members, have accepted the 3.5% rise.
