• More than 300 drivers face an uncertain future following Shell UK's decision to contract out its tanker operations.
The money-saving move follows a review which concluded there was little to be gained from continued direct ownership and management of distribution and operations in the UK. At least 390 people, including managers, drivers and technicians, will be affected by the changes. Shell anticipates that most of them will transfer to the eventual contract winner.
Drivers who have been with Shell for more than five years may be entitled to severance packages including counselling, job search assistance and financial advice.
