Fears about the increased use of electronics in trucks should be dispelled by a series of special customer clinics being organised by Nottinghamshire Foden dealership Charnwood Truck Services.
Group chairman Trevor Fletcher argues that electronics are bringing huge benefits, especially when it comes to monitoring driver behaviour and reducing fuel consumption. And the ability of an electronically controlled engine to record data on its own operating history could have major implications for the second-hand market, he points out.
Charnwood has represented Foden for 35 years and has been owned by a num
ber of large groups, Lex among them. Fletcher's group, which includes wellknown Foden operator T Boyden Hardstoff, and a training operation, acquired it last October. Its territory embraces Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, and Leicestershire.
Three miles from Junction 24 on the Ml, just off the A453 heading towards Nottingham, and opposite Ratcliff power station, its site includes a truck stop with a restaurant, showers, fuel, and security camera monitored parking. The workshop boasts eight bays and can accommodate a fully laden car transporter, says Fletcher.
