Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

haulage very seriously. However, once a week our quirky correspondent, the Hawk, steps off his perch to take a humorous look at the industry to keep us all sane. If you have any off-beat yarns that illustrate the stranger, or sillier, side of the business, he'd like to hear from you. As a softhearted old bird, he's also happy to publicise charitable works— and is always interested in events for the vintage vehicles he drove as a fledgling. Drop the Hawk a line at Commercial Motor, Bird's Eye View, Rm H203, Quadrant House, The Quadrant, Sutton, Surrey SM2 SAS, or fax him on 0181 652 8969.

Married to the job

any couples slope off to Gretna Green with the romantic hope of getting hitched without the help or hindrance of relatives or friends. There was fat chance of this for Steven Begley and Anita Rajput, for all their loved ones are hauliers, so distance and transport is no problem. The groom works for WH Bowker, Preston, the bride for G Reyner, Droylsdon, the bridesmaid was Mrs. Eleanor Calicott who works for Palletline, Coventry, and the groom's mum Hilary is a driver for Hesketh Transport as well as being a bit handy with a needle, for it was she who made the bride's dress. Other firms represented were; Lynx, Dennison, WH Packham, Fry Transport, Montgomerys, and Roadferry Transport. They could have killed two birds with one stone and held a haulage conference as well. On the other hand this might not have gone down too well with the blushing bride.
